In the spirit of using art as an experiential
means of learning and teaching, ESD 105 offers a variety of opportunities
for students and teachers to experience art. ESD 105 partners with
art organizations whenever possible to expose students to the arts
and enhance whatever art programs are currently available.
“Involvement
in the arts has been shown to impact student academic achievement
because the arts require higher level thinking skills. So, art supports
achievement across the curriculum.”
– Aurelio Garcia, ESD 105 Regional Arts Education coordinator

Central Washington
State Fair Art Exhibit: ESD was once again proud
to assist in the coordination of displaying student artwork
at the 2007 fair during September 28-October 7. The 2007 exhibit
involved 1,379 entries from students at 12 Yakima County school
districts, representing 32 public school buildings and five
private schools. Artwork came from students of 71 teachers
who organized, matted, and labeled the pieces in preparation
for the fair. Special thanks also to the 31 teachers and volunteers
who came together to hang up the entries three days prior
to the fair's opening!
